we made it to 'nam!

Hello again! I'm still getting used to this blogging thing so i'm not sure out to upload images. The picture of the beach was taken during our kayak adventure on the island of koh kood. the next day i rented a motorbike, found a small waterfall, and ended up getting lost in the thai rainforest! it was scary for a few minutes, but i had a good adventure. we left koh kood (barely surviving the ferry ride through the storm of the century!) and got on a flight to bangkok, from bangkok we flew to ho chi minh city in vietnam. This city is completely different than thailand. in a city of 9 million people there are 6 million motorbikes swarming the streets. walking around is scary as hell. i think i circled the block that my guest house is on 4 or 5 times before i had the guts to cross the street! my mom is having a good time, she isn't happy with the place i'm supposed to stay when i'm in school (her exact words 'there's no way in hell i'm leaving you in this place alone!') so today we're going out in search of a new hotel, some professional teaching clothes, and who knows what else. the pictures of patti with the shrimp and me with thai flava flav were taken on koah san road, in bangkok (same with ronald doing a traditional thai wei).
Hopefully we won't get hit by any motorbikes while we explore. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures so everyone can get a good feeling for the vietnam insanity i'm experiencing. take care!

Hey Kate! I'm blogging in Mali too! It sounds like you're getting to do a lot! That's great. I'm doing a lot but not much traveling outside of the city, but I do drive around on a scooter for 15 hours everyday. It's the same here, tons of scooters, its fun buzzing inbetween semi's and stuff. Hope all's well, if you're there long enough, we'll have to visit you!!! Best of luck!
